 "description": "<DIV STYLE=\"text-align:Left;\"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This layer represents \"Tax Parcels\" in the City of Northampton, MA defined by <\/SPAN><SPAN STYLE=\"font-style:italic;\">MassGIS Standard for Digital Assessor Parcel Files (Version3, June 14, 2022) <\/SPAN><SPAN>as \"an area of land, comprised of one or more deeded parcels<\/SPAN><SPAN STYLE=\"font-style:italic;\"><SPAN>, <\/SPAN><\/SPAN><SPAN>which is associated with a single tax record in the assessor\u2019s property database.\" The parcel lines were originally developed in GIS form \"in house\" from the city's historic paper tax maps in the 1990s. In 2014, the city collaborated with CDM Smith Inc. (Cambridge, MA) to produce a dataset compliant with the original MassGIS parcel standard. Subsequent releases to and publication by MassGIS were created by Northampton GIS.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN STYLE=\"font-weight:bold;\">Geometry and attribute data for this release were current as of January 2026.
